To this union, fifteen children were born, nine girls and six boys.
Maxine loved all of her children dearly.
Maxine was a humble, sweet and quiet person.
She was wise beyond measure with great intuition and perception of other people.
Because of this, she gave her children great advice and guidance in life, especially her nine girls.
She was an excellent cook. She made the best cakes and pies.
Her sons Albert and John Henry were good hunters
and would often bring catches home and drop them in the kitchen for mama.
She would work her magic and turn out a great meal!
She could take almost nothing and turn it into a fantastic meal for her family.
Maxine was a self-taught seamstress and often made clothes for her girls.
She loved to fish and was very good at it.
She could play piano by ear.
Maxine was also great at repairing appliances.
If any electrical appliance in the home stopped working, she could take it apart,
figure out what was wrong with it and put it back together again in working condition.
Maxine was truly a pioneer. She was a quiet force.
Although she is no longer with us in body. Her legacy lives on.
She passed on life lessons to her children, her great cooking skills to her daughters,
her love of fishing to several of her children and her electrical skills to one of her sons.
Her abiding faith in God, her sweet smile and spirit still resonate in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
Maxine passed away at age 66 from congestive heart failure.
She is dearly missed as a precious mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Love always, your family
